Fascinated by the leaders who make impact in the world, companies and politicians with the capacity to inspire, Simon Sinek has discovered some remarkable patterns in how they think, act and communicate. He wrote Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action to explore his idea of the Golden Circle, what he calls "a naturally occurring pattern, grounded in the biology of human decision making, that explains why we are inspired by some people, leaders, messages and organizations over others. It's the subject of his latest book, Leaders Eat Last. He writes and comments regularly for major publications and teaches graduate-level strategic communications at Columbia University.

The more Simon started to understand the difference between finite and infinite games, the more he began to see infinite games all around us. He started to see that many of the struggles that organizations face exist simply because their leaders were playing with a finite mindset in a game that has no end. The leaders who embrace an infinite mindset, in stark contrast, build stronger, more innovative, more inspiring organizations.
They have the resilience to thrive in an ever-changing world, while their competitors fall by the wayside. Ultimately, those who adopt an infinite mindset are the ones who lead the rest of us into the future. Wabi sabi is a Japanese design concept. It means beauty in that which is temporary or imperfect.
Things that come off of an assembly line, for example, are perfect, but things made by hand, like the glaze on a Japanese ceramic bowl, are imperfect. It is their imperfections that give them their beauty. The same is true for people.
It is the combination of all of our imperfections that make us vulnerable and beautiful. We love the idea of wabi sabi as a metaphor for the work we do. Our work centers around this idea of life as a journey. That we are all working to become better versions of ourselves. We wanted our site to reflect the journey of constant improvement we are all on—as leaders, as organizations and as individuals.
We believe that it is the imperfections that make it feel human, and beautiful. Get Notes to Inspire. Search for:. Skip to content Get Inspired. Find the inspiration to begin your journey.
